Two True South installers in branded shirts applying film to a commercial storefront

Warranty & experience

Two warranties, and neither one is a coupon.

3M backs the film for life. We back the install for a year. Between the two, there's no gap for a bubble, a purple pane, or a lifted edge to hide in.

Manufacturer

3M™ Lifetime Limited Warranty

Registered to you at the time of install by an authorized dealer. 3M covers the film itself against bubbling, peeling, cracking, delamination, demetalizing and color change — for as long as you own the vehicle, or for the life of the residential installation.

  • · Automotive: lifetime, original owner
  • · Residential: lifetime of the installation
  • · Commercial: warranty term varies by film series
  • · Only valid through an authorized dealer install

True South

One-year workmanship warranty

3M's warranty covers the material. It does not cover a bad cut, a lifted edge, or contamination trapped under the film — that's on the installer. So we warranty our own hands for a full year. If something we did isn't right, bring it back and we fix it.

  • · Edge lift, gaps and short cuts
  • · Contamination trapped at install
  • · Creases and fingers from handling
  • · No receipt hunt — we keep the records

Why authorized matters

Anybody can buy film. Not everybody can register it.

A 3M lifetime warranty only exists if an authorized dealer installed authorized product and filed it. Film bought off a marketplace and installed in a driveway carries nothing — which is a large part of why that job costs $99.

Twenty-five years

Long enough to have seen every way film fails.

That's the actual value of experience in this trade. Not speed — pattern recognition.

3M's own lineage

3M invented reflective window film in 1966 and multilayer optical film in 1998 — the same heat-management thinking that shows up in aerospace and spacecraft thermal control. Modern ceramic film isn't a marketing story, it's a materials-science one.

Glass is not one material

Tempered, annealed, laminated, low-E, insulated units — each behaves differently under solar load and each has films it must not receive. Knowing which is which is the difference between a warranty and a broken seal.

Curing is not a defect

Haze and water pockets for a week or two after install are normal and they resolve. A shop that doesn't explain that up front is going to get a call it deserves.
